Domestic Violence Advocate - SERV (1113)Sign-On BonusTake advantage of our new sign-on bonus! When you apply and get hired, you are eligible for a $500 sign-on bonus.Position Summary:The DV Client Advocate is responsible for individual services, including case management, advocacy, and crisis‑counseling as well as presenting educational programs to the community. The DV Client Advocate reports directly to the Outreach Program Supervisor.Location: Bridgeton, NJJob Status: Full TimeSalary: $25 per hourDuties and Responsibilities:Provide crisis‑intervention and counseling to individuals and family members and significant others affected by sexual violence.Accompany individuals through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. Provide victims with case‑related medical and legal information.Present educational programs in schools, community and church groups, and other professional organizations. Assist with additional outreach efforts and attend scheduled events.Provide case management assisting with resources, provide appropriate referrals, safety planning and completing monthly surveys.Coordinate and facilitate support group services for individuals affected by domestic violence.Respond to 24‑hour hotline, accompany individuals through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. Provide individuals with case‑related medical and legal information.Maintain individual case files, following state and agency guidelines.Complete monthly and quarterly statistics and reports.Participate in community collaboration meetings, SERV Prevention Coalition and monthly NJCDEV meetings.Meet the goals/outcome of grant requirements.Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program.Requirements:The DV Client Advocate must successfully complete 60‑hour New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate and Domestic Violence Response Team training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV).Advocates have experience working with people, especially on a one‑to‑one basis, and demonstrated sensitivity toward the needs of individuals affected by domestic violence. Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking is required.A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services is preferred. Work experience may substitute for education on a year‑to‑year basis.Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years.Vehicle with current insurance and registration.Benefits: At the Center for Family Services our employees are our greatest resource and we are committed to investing in our staff.
