The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial reporting through the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. This role plays a key part in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring the integrity of financial data across balance sheet and income statement accounts. In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the position supports lease accounting, accruals, and account analysis while partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and improve financial processes.How You'll Make an ImpactPrepare, review and record monthly journal entries with supporting schedules and documentation in accordance with GAAP and company policies to ensure accurate financial reporting.Record accruals, prepaid expenses, and related amortization entries for accurate period-end accountingPerform reconciliations and variance analysis for assigned general ledger accounts, including balance sheet and income statement accountsParticipate in and supports monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingAssist in the preparation and analysis of internal financial statements and related reporting deliverablesSupport lease accounting activities, including preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of related schedules to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable standardsEnsure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies through accurate documentation and reconciliation practicesIdentify and support process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilitiesCollaborate with internal teams and external partners to research, resolve, and prevent accounting discrepanciesExercises sound professional judgment and discretion in the performance of accounting responsibilities and problem resolutionAdditional responsibilities as requiredWhat You'll Need to SucceedBachelor's degree in Accounting required1-3 years of general ledger accounting or public accounting experienceStrong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and variance analysis within a financial reporting environmentAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and related functions); experience with ERP systems preferred (PeopleSoft a plus)High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities focused on financial accuracy and integrityStrong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain accounting issues and variancesAbility to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables in a deadline-driven, fast-paced close environmentDemonstrated ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across teamsStrong discipline around documentation, accuracy, and adherence to accounting policies and controlsPlease Note: This is a hybrid role requiring in-office attendance three (3) days per week at our Florham Park, NJ headquarters.
