Job DescriptionSummaryThis position is solely responsible for the operation and management of the Parent Resource Center ("PRC"), which promotes awareness of the services provided by Frederick County Public Schools for students with disabilities and their families. This includes encouragement of parent participation in the educational decision‑making process and coordinating seminars, and training programs, and providing information to foster the parent/professional partnership. This position also facilitates PRC's service as a resource for educators and the community.QualificationsMust hold a Virginia Teacher License with an Endorsement in Special EducationMinimum of 5 years of special education teaching experience.Must possess knowledge of the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Students with Disabilities in Virginia (i.e., special education processes and programs) to develop/present general training workshops.Must possess knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, equipment, and clerical techniques.Must possess the ability to greet and build relationships with parents/the general public in order to respond to their needs.Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.Essential DutiesEssential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned. Ensure parents are informed of their rights and responsibilities related to the special education processes outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA 2004) and the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities in Virginia and, as such, have a direct impact on increasing outcomes for students with disabilities. Serve as a source of information and referral regarding state and federal laws and regulations governing special education. Provide information and support to parents of students with disabilities to help them understand and navigate the special education process. Assist parents in developing strategies and informal options to address issues and concerns. Promote collaboration and positive communication between parents and school division personnel in addressing special education issues. Develop and present scheduled workshops for parents, educators, and other interested parties based on community‑assessed needs. Serve as a resource for disability‑related information and referrals to available programs and services for individuals with disabilities. Serve on the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). Serve as a representative in local and state activities designed for Parent Resource Center (PRC) staff.Pay RateTeacher Salary Scale (credit is based on years of full‑time experience in a related position)ContractFull time / 10 months / 200 daysStart DateThis position is effective with the 2026-2027 school year#J-18808-Ljbffr
