Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.The Role This role requires competencies in leadership, adaptability, and the capability to build positive working relationships with multiple functions. To support our business organizations, you will need to have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain a high level of customer focus. This position requires the ability to make good timely decisions, ability to initiate and follow through on actions, and the ability to manage complex projects.Position Responsibilities Plans, implements, and assesses occupational health and safety programs and processes to maintain a safe and healthy work environmentProactively identify hazards, perform risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies for commissioning activitiesDevelops and leads training and instructionsInterprets and advises on the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operationsEvaluates and provides selection advice on existing or emergent risk management control technologiesLeads audits, inspections and investigations and coordinates resolution of issuesDevelops corrective action plan to respond to internal/external audits and inspectionsWorks with management to facilitate risk management decisionsAnalyzes emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methodsProvides safety and process safety expertise for engineering and design.Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related disciplines7+ years' experience working in Environment, health, and Safety (EHS) preferably in a manufacturing or industrial segmentExperience developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and training7+ years of experience collaborating across functions and organizations.Ability to be self-directed and complete work with minimal day-to-day supervisionPreferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in a safety related field (Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Toxicology, Bio-Engineering, Public Health, etc.)5+ years of experience managing projectsAssociate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist certificationLeading a team formally or informallyExperience working with union partnershipsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Understanding of ISO 45001Essential Duties and Physical Demands Ability to walk/stand frequently per shiftAbility to climb limited per shiftAbility to sit frequently per shiftAbility to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs.Union This is a union-represented position.Drug Free Workplace We are a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Pay & Benefits We strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
