IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution.We are looking for a Senior Manager of System Integration and Commissioning to lead teams of highly technical individuals delivering quantum computers to customers. Candidates for this role should have demonstrable experience taking complex systems through the entire design lifecycle from concept to manufacturing and operations. You should be experienced in identifying and implementing iterative design improvements for performance, with a specific focus on Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Test (DfT). In this role, you will manage a multidisciplinary group of physicists and engineers to optimize and execute the final stages of quantum computer deliveries to internal and external customers. You will influence current and future system designs across the entire hardware and software design lifecycle. By working cross-functionally, you will improve the quality, speed, and predictability of customer deliveries, directly contributing to the company's strategic revenue goals.ResponsibilitiesLead teams of physicists and engineers to deliver customer systems in support of company level objectivesIdentify and drive design changes in current and future system to improve the commissioning processAlign the teams with industry best practices for installation and commissioning of customer systemsDevelop requirements for next generation systems to drive operational improvements with the goal of simplifying the integration and commissioning process to be executed by non subject matter expertsDrive integration improvements in order to gain a material reduction in cycle time through design optimization, automation, etc.Manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and deliverablesCollaborate and communicate with internal and external customers, engineers, physicists, as well as engineering and operations leadershipWork with cross-functional leadership to create, influence, and align on department and organizational level goals and objectivesManage costs, and schedules across our operations programHire, develop, and retain top engineering and scientific talentLead root cause investigations to resolve highly complex or unique situations that impact system delivery or operationsHelp define and manage key performance metrics for the teamDrive the teams to execute independently from the development organizationYou'd be a good fit withBachelor's degree or higher in engineering, Physics, or related field8+ years of hands‑on technical leadership and people management experienceExperience managing and mentoring engineers, physicists or scientists ranging from early career to seniorExperience taking a complex product through the entire design lifecycleExperience delivering complex products, including hardware and software, to customersDemonstrated experience planning product deliveries in terms of cost, schedule and labor resourcesExperience identifying and driving corrective actions for design issues found in production systemsStrong written and oral communication demonstrated by the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiencesPrior experience managing managersYou'd be a great fit with15+ years of technical leadership and people management experienceDirect experience in complex system integration, especially in Validation and VerificationExperience with free space optics and laser systemsExperience integrating electronics and softwarePrior experience with quantum computingExperience with some modern scripting languages, like Python, Go, etc.Location & TravelLocation: Bothell, WATravel: Up to 20% both domestic and internationalJob ID: IONQ-1081The approximate base salary range for this position is $151,756 - $198,688. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity. Compensation will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Beyond base salary, total compensation includes a variable bonus and equity component and a range of benefit options found on our career site at ionq.co/jobs.
