About The RoleWorking Hours: 35 Hours per weekContract Type: Full time / PermanentAdditional Payments: Essential car user allowance and £5,000 Market Rate SupplementInterview Method: Face to FaceClosing Date: 25 June 2026, 11.59pmRole OverviewWe are looking for a social work team manager for the Children with Disabilities Team in the Central Locality. The role holder will be responsible for the safe delivery of care or people support functions, ensuring discharge of statutory responsibilities and the provision of a high‑quality service. They will lead, manage and motivate a team of professional practitioners, and develop effective partnerships with partners and key stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure safe delivery of care or people support functions, meeting statutory responsibilities and high‑quality standards.Effectively lead, manage and motivate a team of professional practitioners to develop a skilled and confident workforce.Collaborate with partners and key stakeholders to develop effective partnerships and coordinated working with other services and organisations.Essential Qualifications & ExperienceSocial work qualification and at least five years post‑qualification practice.Registered with Social Work England.Experience in a management role (experience working with disabled children is an advantage).Strong working knowledge of supporting disabled children and families and fundamentals of social work (including safeguarding processes).Ability to assess and respond to risk and build & maintain multi‑agency relationships.High level of support and challenge to social workers and partners in line with Manchester's values and behaviours.Excellent communication and imaginative problem‑solving skills.Right to work in the UK, proof of residency, valid driving licence and essential car user allowance.Pre‑Employment Checks & Legal RequirementsProof of Right to Work and evidence of right to work in the UK.References (3‑year history recommended).Proof of Qualifications.Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (Enhanced).Medical clearance (Pre‑placement health assessment).BPSS Clearance if required.Driving licence evidence (if role requires driving).BenefitsGenerous holiday allowance – 26 days per year + bank holidays, increasing to 31 days after 5 years; option to purchase up to two additional weeks.Pension – Enrolled in the UK's largest local government pension scheme with top‑up options and life cover.Enhanced parental and carers leave.Access to a range of discounts (shopping, holidays, phone contracts, cycle‑to‑work scheme, free flu jabs, eye tests).Learning and development opportunities.Volunteering leave – up to 3 days per year pro‑rated.Additional InformationThe Children's Social Work Services are not currently considering applications from overseas.
