Part-Time Occupational Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) SpecialistLocation: Havelock, NC (with occasional travel to ACET operating sites)Department: Aerospace OperationsReports To: Vice President, Aerospace DivisionEmployment Type: Part-Time (20 / 30 Hours Weekly)Position SummaryACET is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Environmental Health & Safety (OEHS) Specialist to support Aerospace Operations, Manufacturing, and CFT Field Services programs. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for administering, monitoring, and continuously improving workplace safety, environmental compliance, occupational health, and medical surveillance programs in support of aircraft maintenance, depot modifications, aerospace manufacturing, warehousing, and field operations.This position plays a critical role in protecting ACET employees, customers, and company assets while ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, state regulations, customer requirements, and company policies.Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Health & Safety Program ManagementDevelop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and work instructions.Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, local, and customer safety requirements.Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and workplace assessments.Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.Track and monitor safety metrics, incidents, and corrective actions.Hold quarterly program safety review meeting.Support management during customer, regulatory, and third‑party audits.Occupational Health & Medical SurveillanceAdminister ACET's Occupational Health Program.Manage employee medical surveillance requirements, including:Respirator qualification and fit‑testing programsHearing Conservation ProgramAudiometric testingVision screeningPulmonary function testingExposure monitoring requirementsCoordinate employee medical appointments with approved occupational health providers.Maintain confidential medical and surveillance records in accordance with applicable regulations.OSHA & Regulatory ComplianceMaintain compliance with applicable OSHA standards, including:Hazard CommunicationRespiratory ProtectionLockout/TagoutFall ProtectionElectrical SafetyPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)Walking Working SurfacesBloodborne PathogensIndustrial Hygiene RequirementsEnsure required OSHA logs and reporting requirements are maintained.Support accident reporting and regulatory notifications as required.Manage workplace injury and illness reporting processes.Coordinate workers' compensation claims with employees, supervisors, HR, insurance carriers, and medical providers.Conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis.Track corrective actions through completion.Monitor return-to-work and restricted‑duty programs.Aerospace & Manufacturing Safety OversightSupport aircraft maintenance and modification operations.Support manufacturing, fabrication, painting, and warehouse operations.Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Risk Assessments.Monitor contractor and subcontractor safety compliance.Participate in production planning meetings to identify potential safety concerns.Training & Employee AwarenessDevelop and conduct EHS training programs.Maintain employee safety training records.Conduct new hire safety orientation.Promote employee engagement through safety committees and awareness initiatives.Support monthly safety meetings and toolbox talks.Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.Monitor compliance with environmental permits and requirements.Coordinate spill prevention and emergency response activities.Required QualificationsAssociate's degree or higher in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field.Minimum 5 years of EHS experience supporting manufacturing, aerospace, industrial, or government operations.Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health programs.Experience managing workers' compensation claims and medical surveillance programs.Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.Preferred QualificationsCertified Safety Professional (CSP)Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)OSHA 30‑Hour CertificationExperience supporting DoD, NAVAIR, or aerospace maintenance operations.Experience with AS9100, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001 environments.Knowledge of respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs.Physical RequirementsAbility to access aircraft, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and industrial work environments.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and conduct facility inspections.Work SchedulePart-Time Position (20–30 hours per week)Flexible schedule based on operational requirements.Occasional travel to customer and field service locations may be required.Why Join ACET?At ACET, safety is a core value and a critical component of mission success.
