LocationRemote,WI Description Our client, a provider of lighting control and energy management solutions is seeking a Technical Sales Manager with an Electrical background to add to their REMOTE Sales team in the Midwest (US). This role is responsible for creatingand capturing sales opportunities by leveraging deep technical knowledge of electrical systems, customer applications, and market dynamics. This position will drive specification and adoption of solutions by engaging engineers, contractors, OEMs, and end users. This individual will act as a trusted advisor, influencing design decisions, building national account relationships, and translating technical capabilities into measurable business value. This client delivers robust products that serve the electrical, pool and spa, HVAC/R, retail and OEM markets. This role works fully remote, targets a total compensation package of $200K, with a salary in the $125K range and a 55% bonus. The role also includes a strong benefit package and unlimited PTO and requires travel in the 50% range (see below). This person manages the MIDWEST territory which currently includes: West Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, and the Dakotas so base location is preferred in Kansas City, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Chicago, but CAN BASE anywhere in the MIDWEST. The key to this role is past proven success in a sales role related to the electrical field. The incumbent will: Specification & Business Development
Develop and expand specification opportunities with consulting engineers and design-build contractors
Influence project design to ensure inclusion of products in specifications
Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities across electrical and HVACR markets
Strategic Account & Market Engagement
Build relationships with:
OEM accounts
Facility managers
National retail, hospitality, and restaurant chains
End users across key vertical markets
Drive national account visibility and standardization of solutions
Technical Expertise & Solutions Selling
Maintain deep technical knowledge across product lines and applications
Deliver product training and technical education to:
Customers
Manufacturer representatives
Internal sales teams
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
Strategy, Execution & Collaboration
Develop and execute short- and long-term sales strategies aligned with company objectives
Partner with US Sales Manager and Channel Managers to drive territory and account growth
Balance day-to-day tactical execution with long-term strategic initiatives
Collaborate cross-functionally to support product launches and market expansion
Market Intelligence & Leadership
Provide insights on market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities
Contribute to go-to-market strategy and product positioning
Actively participate in industry associations, affiliations, and certification programs to strengthen market presence
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of technical sales experience in the electrical industry
Strong technical background in electrical controls, HVACR, or related systems
Demonstrated success influencing specifications and closing complex sales
Ability to engage effectively with multiple levels of decision-makers (engineers, executives, contractors, etc.)
Ability to travel at 40%-60% - this is 2-4 day trips per calendar week and average 3 trips per month.
Preferred but not required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field
Experience working with OEMs, national accounts, and specification-driven sales cycles
Familiarity with electrical distribution channels and rep networks
TRAVEL - this role anticipates travel at 40%-60% - 2-4 day trips per calendar week and averages 3 trips per month. All travel is reimbursed and requires independent booking - make your own schedule - which allows preference for airline, hotel and rental car. Expenses are logged in to an automated RAMP expense reporting system which allows real time input and quick reimbursement. This role requires F2F time with agents, distributors and customers all which are flexible in scheduling, so the goal is to travel at a high percentage BUT create work life balance that allows the incumbent to be home every weekend and plan around life events during the work week.
