The facility is designed to support ventilator weaning, respiratory rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary management, allowing Respiratory Therapists to practice at the top of their license.On a typical night, you will: Provide comprehensive respiratory assessments and adjust treatment plans based on patient status and physician orders Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilators, perform ventilator checks, and implement weaning protocols in collaboration with the care team Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, and airway management, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and other respiratory treatments Monitor and document patient responses to interventions in the EMR, ensuring accurate and timely charting Collaborate with nurses, physicians, rehabilitation staff, and other team members to coordinate care and participate in bedside rounds when needed Provide education and support to patients and families about respiratory equipment, therapies, and home care considerations as appropriate for discharge planning Participate in maintaining respiratory equipment, following safety, infection control, and quality standards throughout the facilityPatient ratios are structured to allow Respiratory Therapists to provide thorough, attentive care to each individual, with caseloads focused on ventilator-dependent and high-acuity respiratory patients. You will see a mix of post-ICU patients, those with chronic pulmonary diseases, neuromuscular conditions, and individuals recovering from complex surgeries or prolonged critical illness.Night shifts typically offer consistent hours that support continuity of care, with the opportunity to work closely with a stable team of clinicians who understand the unique demands of overnight LTAC practice.
