Summary
The Development Officer, Individual Giving and Donor Relations is responsible for leading prospect management for individual giving, developing and implementing a robust mid-level and major gift program, and working with the team to implement and increase donor relations and stewardship best practices to increase revenue for the chapter, increase engagement, and increase acquisition to advance the mission of Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and execute an annual and long-term plan for robust mid-level and major gift programs, including timelines and scopes for moves management for fundraising goals related to annual giving and special campaigns.
- Grow and manage the mid-level donor programs to include renewal and solicitation of new donors to the Doors of Hope and Adopt-A-Room programs, as well as our muti-year pledge program, Heroes of Hope.
- Understand key concepts for planned giving vehicles, including Donor Advised Funds, Qualified Charitable Distributions, etc.
- Research, identify and, solicit individual donors capable of making gifts of mid-level and major gifts to the chapter through thoughtful cultivation and stewardship.
- Be willing to make cold calls and lead in donor discovery conversations.
- Maintain and manage an individual prospect portfolio continuously evaluating interactions and proposal management in the CRM as part of a moves management process.
- Develop fundraising strategies and prospect relationships to engage new donors with capacity expanding reach outside of the Ann Arbor community as well as segmenting strategies for donor groups (grateful families, volunteers, etc.).
- Work with the team to manage stewardship for all mid-level and major donors and continuously develop new and innovative approaches to engage mission-rich opportunities for our closest supporters.
- Lead the team in prospect management strategies, with quarterly team meetings, and continuously monitor Windfall (wealth screening tool) and I-Wave, lapsed major gift donors and identify new mid-level/major gift donors to add to the prospect pool.
- Develop strategic one-pager donor profiles for solicitors to use in donor engagement.
- Assist the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Director of Development with key stakeholder relationships to create a culture of philanthropy and keen focus on donor prospect identification and cultivation of both new and existing donors and develop turn-key strategies for prospect engagement through referrals.
- Conduct prospect research to identify new opportunities for individual mid-level and major gifts.
- Lead tours for new or prospective donors and community members for cultivation and stewardship purposes.
- Perform other duties incidental to the work outlined in this position description as requested by the CDO and Director of Development.
- Contribute to RMH team efforts by maintaining positive, supportive, and flexible working relationships with fellow staff and volunteers in the mutual pursuit of providing comfort and care to families of seriously ill or injured children being served by the Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor.
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered - At least 5-7 years of fundraising experience, with emphasis on individual donor engagement.
- Ability to engage and develop strategy around securing mid-level ($2K-$9,999K) and major gifts ($10K or more).
- Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a partner to the CDO and CEO of an organization and experience with Board relationships.
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Works collaboratively with a wide range of people and personalities.
- Strong time and organizational skills.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and willing to work as a team member.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Bloomerang or comparable donor CRM database.
- Ability to maintain confidential matters.
- Proven self-starter who works independently.
