Job Description Instrumentation and Electrical Technician- Decatur ILCorn PlantThis is a full-time, hourly position. Pay Rate: $28.42 - $36.50 based on experience. Likely will start at Training Grade 1 of $28.42/hour with room for advancement.Shift(s) Available: Ability to work any shift, overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice as needed. ADM is a part of the production of 30% of the food supply globally, on average you touch at least 7 items per day made with ADM ingredients. 25% of production for ADM is right here in Decatur, IL. We make ingredients like Corn Oil and Soybean Oil which can be found in chips or salad dressing. The I&E technician is expected to troubleshoot, diagnose, propose, and implement equipment repair activities that may or not be included in the planned work. Technician will communicate job status using a maintenance management software system, through verbal communications, or through other written communications. The I&E tech will follow all plant safety and operating guidelines as well as all standards of electrical safety and maintenance practices. Essential Job Functions:Perform as a team member, or independently, to troubleshoot, diagnose, propose and implement repair solutions for electrical power and control equipment, as well as process control componentsComprehend and implement standard electrical work practices and guidelines including those outlined by organizations such as the National Fire Protection Agency (NEC) and the IEEE to ensure a quality, as well as compliant, productUtilize the functions of the maintenance management system to facilitate job plans and record maintenance activities on plant assetsUnderstands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practices.Responsible for utilizing the Performance Excellence process. Ability and willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed in food grade and industrial areas including hazardous locations (Class I & Class II)Job Qualifications:Committed to ADM's goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety proceduresUse of HART communicator as requireBasic knowledge of AC/DC circuit theoryBasic knowledge of process sensors/transmittersBasic knowledge of electrical safety devices (breakers, fuses, etc.)Demonstrated safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures2-4 years instrumentation experience and/or equivalent degree or schooling (industrial or commercial setting); able to run conduit, troubleshoot, read blue printsExcellent communication & organizational skills; able to collaborate with colleagues and management teams to complete assignments in a timely mannerWilling to improve technical skills through on-the-job and/or outside trainingWilling to work shift and weekends as neededExtensive knowledge and experience with our CMMS (Maximo)Detailed understanding of Food Manufacturing Plant Operation and Maintenance.Install, replace, repair, calibrate, and/or troubleshoot 4-20ma devices (temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow transmitters, control valves, pH monitors, various types of level transmitters, pneumatic devices, etc.)Install and wire up PLC racks, power supplies, I/O cards, communication, scale transmitter inputs, etc. and be able to troubleshoot issues with any of these itemsIndustrial safety experience required, including, but not limited to, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Arc Flash, Level 1,2Maintain accurate and through knowledge of manuals, publications and files concerning equipment, programs, and production processes, organization and record keeping skills are essentialMust be 18 years or older Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English (verbal/written) Working Conditions:DustChemicals / IrritantsThe scope of the position requires exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to mechanical work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not properly followedInside areas:Spring / Summer: Temperatures in some areas of the facility will be up to or exceed 100 degreesFall / Winter: Temperatures in the facility may be at or below freezingOutside areas:Spring / Summer: Outside temperature may be up to or exceed 100 degrees with potential for high humidity; may be exposed to inclement weather conditions including, but not limited to, rain and windFall / Winter: Outside temperatures may reach freezing or below; may be exposed to inclement weather including, freezing rain, sleet, snow, and windSome manufacturing processes within the facility are highly reliant on machinery and other processing equipment and, as a result, noise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shiftPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to thirty (30) pounds on a frequent basis, up to fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basisLifting or carrying of weights over fifty (50) pounds is rare; employees are encouraged to request assistance in lifting or carrying objects that weigh more than fifty (50) poundsAbility to traverse up to two (2) miles during the course of a work dayAbility to move about or to a work site by stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently during the course of a work day; may require periods of prolonged sitting or standingAbility to operate equipment or diagnose/detect issues of machinery that may be located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding, or other work at heightsFull range of physical motion is required in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at heightsOn-The-Job Training Requirements:New colleagues will need to undergo on-the-job training to acquire skills and certifications, which will be assessed according to established standardsComplete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental trainingParticipate in company planner operations trainingEquipment training may include but not limited to JLP, Forklift, Non-DOT Truck, Reach Lift, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc.ADM requires the successful completion of a background check. REF:108251BR Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
