Associate degree or technical school in mechanical drafting field
Five years' experience in Shipbuilding is required
Knowledge relating to the design of Insulation Systems, Joiner Bulkhead Systems, Sheathing, Ceiling Systems, Deck Covering Systems, Doors, Furniture, Galley Equipment, Gratings and Battens, and to a lesser extent, related plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and piping
Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industry regulations, including T9640-AC-DSP-010_HAB Habitability Design Criteria and Practices Manual, OPNAV INST 9640.1C Shipboard Habitability Program, various MIL-STD's and MIL-PRF's, IMO/ FTP Code, SOLAS, and MIL-S-901 Shock Classification
Extensive knowledge of the Naval Architecture designated engineering field
Knowledge of building information modelling (BIM) and CAD tools (including Navisworks) and ability to produce digital representations of structural and functional elements
Experience creating and developing engineering designs and technical drawings from initial concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other reference materials
Ability to write technical documentation and reports
Ability to produce construction specifications, cost estimates, and material quantities
Ability to supervise and train junior technologists, technicians, and drafting staff
