High school diploma/GED equivalent.
At least three (3) to five (5) years of recent, relevant hands-on experience within the last seven (7) years in the operation, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing of U.S. Navy Electrical equipment including, but not limited to:
* Shipboard electrical systems and infrared surveys; Cathodic Protection (in addition to ICCP); Motor generator sets including voltage and frequency regulators and monitors; Miscellaneous systems including Lube Oil Purifier Heaters, Vent fog precipitators, Helicopter/Aircraft Electrical Servicing Station (HESS/AESS); All associated system controllers (e.g., Gun Control) that require electrical monitoring using power analyzers or troubleshooting.
* Ability to provide technical support on electrical cables; power and lighting circuits and distribution (4160 VAC, 1000 VAC, 450 VAC, 115 VAC); marine electrical systems; Automatic Bus Transfer (ABT) switches; transformers; SSDG/MPDE controls; gas-turbine, steam-turbine, and diesel generator sets and exciters; governor and synchronizer controls; 400 Hz converters; degaussing systems; switchgear (breakers, reverse-power relays, load-shedding, GPM, NBPS); Cathodic Protection (in addition to ICCP); and motor-generator sets.
* Ability to accomplish Infrared (IR) surveys per SW210-AP-GYD-010 and MIP 3000 to identify overheating in switchboards, motor controllers, propulsion-plant, power-generation, auxiliary, and lighting equipment, and to support cableway inspection oversight and drawing review per NAVSEAINST 9304.1.
* Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.
* Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
* Existing SECRET Security Clearance Required: This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. A candidate without a clearance but with highly relevant experience may be considered, but still must obtain a clearance prior to hire.
