Emergency Veterinary Technician
Schedule: Full-time opportunity, Swing/ 2nd Shift
Starting range is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field
Triage: Perform an initial assessment to evaluate the patient's condition quickly.
Venipuncture and IVC Placement: Proficiently perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement.
Medication Administration: Safely and accurately administer fluids, medications, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Vigilantly monitor hospitalized patients, recognizing subtle changes in their clinical status and promptly reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
Client Education: Provide clear and concise discharge instructions to clients, ensuring they understand the care their furry family member requires after leaving the hospital.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including patient history, treatment details, and client communication.
Anesthesia and Sedation Monitoring: Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia to ensure patient safety.
Diagnostic Imaging: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in capturing radiographs and other diagnostic images.
Laboratory Procedures: Run diagnostics (i.e: CBC, Chem Panel, NOVA, iSTAT, UA), correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient and notify Veterinarian of results.
Blood Transfusion Therapy : Including collection, administration, and transfusion reactions.
Administering Oxygen: Flow-by Oxygen, Nasal Oxygen Cannula, or Oxygen Cage.
Assist Doctors: Collaborate closely with veterinarians to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases.
