A post-graduate level degree in tax, accounting, law, economics, finance or another relevant subject area.
Significant, relevant experience in tax advisory, preferably including experience with US federal income tax, international tax, energy sector tax matters, transactions, audit controversy, or in-house business advisory support.
Strong technical knowledge as applied to corporations, consolidated groups, partnerships, joint ventures, transactions, financing, tax accounting, credits and incentives, and international operations.
Deep understanding of international tax concepts.
Strong financial acumen, modelling capability, and the ability to translate tax issues into commercial recommendations that are easily understood by executive audiences.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; can convey complex tax concepts.
Excellent analytical skills and judgment in balancing technical, commercial, financial reporting, audit, and reputational considerations.
Ability to represent bp in front of fiscal authorities, external advisors, auditors, and business leadership.
Ability to utilise and deploy AI and other data extraction and analytical tools, including Power BI and the full suite of Microsoft Office products.
