  • The Machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies. You'll work collaboratively with other multi-skilled technicians under the direction of the Shop Supervisor.
  • Setting up and operating various machines and tools on a 3 or 4 axis CNC.
  • Reading and interpreting work orders to select proper work center and identify required tooling and/or programs necessary to perform the operation.
  • Listen to machining operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and compensate for problems.
  • Obtaining and installing proper tooling, such as jaws, chucks, tombstones, fixtures, and cutting tools.
  • Using various gauges and precision instruments (i.e. intra-mics, profilometers for finish surface requirements, calipers, IDOD micrometers, indicators, and special gaging equipment, etc.) to inspect production pieces to make necessary program and tooling adjustments.
  • Cleaning and removing burrs after the operation is completed.
  • Assisting manufacturing engineering in process improvements.
  • Training other employees on a variety of machine tools and operations.
