Preparing each Indvidual's room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment and bathroom needs
Helping participants eat and take medications
Making sure they have regular meals and proper medication dosages
Monitoring vitals and patient behavior and reporting them to the nursing and medical staff
Assisting consumers with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed
Turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort
Exercising patients by helping them walk
Transporting consumers to activities in the community
Assisting consumers with daily tasks
Health Monitoring: DSPs monitor the health and well-being of the individuals they support, reporting any changes in behavior or physical health to appropriate personnel. They may also assist with medication administration and ensure that individuals adhere to their health plans.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of services provided, including progress notes and incident reports, is essential for ensuring continuity of care and compliance with regulations.
Advocacy: DSPs advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities, helping them access resources and services that promote independence and community inclusion.
