High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in machining or machine-shop operations involving large or irregular workpieces.
Experience setting up and operating manual lathes, vertical turning lathes, horizontal boring machines, mills, grinders, or comparable large machine tools required.
Experience using precision measuring instruments and interpreting engineering drawings and dimensional requirements required.
Ability to use geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles together with the use of engineering drawings, specifications, and tables.
Skilled in interpreting complex blueprints and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;).
Ability to properly operate overhead crane and lift trucks.
Ability to comprehend machining practices and techniques for fabricating generator and large turbine parts and components of various designs.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
