BS/MS in Engineering discipline or Physics
Ability to perform basic engineering analyses (stress, deflection, flow rate, pressure drop, and tolerance stack-up)
Solid understanding of metal working tolerances produced by milling, grinding, turning, and laser/water jet cutting
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and applying statistics in a manufacturing setting
Experience designing, installing, and qualifying production equipment including hand tools, fixtures, gages, and semi-automated equipment
Proficiency at authoring technical documents such as work instructions, test plans, test reports, standard operating procedures, and project reports.
Knowledge and experience with selection of materials commonly used in tools, gages, and assembly fixtures
Capable of performing basic stress analysis using hand calculations and/or FEA software
Basic understanding of pneumatics, controls, sensors, and PLC's
Basic understanding and experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and process hazard analysis (PHA)
Ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operations
