High School Diploma or GED
1+ years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and manufacturing industry OR successfully completed a recognized welding school training
Travel to other shipyards in the continental United States and the Far East is required
Required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
Required to perform shift work and emergency overtime as work dictates
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher
Ability to use NAVSEA/SP ships drawings, technical manuals, ship system manuals and various other documents in the performance of this task is a must
Must have the ability to perform the functions of the craft to the proper procedures and policies in a safe manner
Must be able to qualify and maintain Respiratory Protection certification
Must be able to qualify and maintain Fall Arrest Protection certification
Must be able to qualify and maintain Lifting & Handling / Industrial Trucks certification
Must be able to qualify and maintain the EB Heavy Metals Program requirements
Selected candidates must be able to pass a practical exam for position applied
Experience with Welding Techniques sheets, MDDs, SDDs and DI's
Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting
