Week Shift

Has nominal aluminum welding experience or passed the AIDT welding course.

Can perform simple welding task that has little to no quality requirements.

Has the ability to weld to a certain standard instructed by his/her supervisor based on the projects welding requirements.

Has minimum weld deficiencies that require rework.

Has the ability to repair any weld deficiencies in a timely matter.

Complies to the companies welding, safety, and quality standards.

Proficient in Pulse aluminum GMAW and or GTAW

Can weld in accordance with given weld schedule depicted on blueprints with little to no supervision required.

Can pass the certified welder test based on ABS and CWI standards from FMS.

Must be able to perform basic maintenance and repairs on the welding machines required to perform his/her job.

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.

Must be able to change your own shielding gas bottle required for welding.

Has the ability to work from a blueprint on simple fabricating tasks with constant intermediate supervision from either a foreman or senior fabricator.

Has less than one year of experience in the aluminum fabricating field.

Has the ability to work from a blueprint on most standard fabricating tasks with occasional supervision from either a foreman or senior fabricator.

Has more than a year of experience in the aluminum fabricating field.

Has the ability to work from a blueprint on all fabricating task, including complicated hull designs and components without any supervision from a foreman or senior fabricator.

Must be able to change your own shielding gas bottle required for stitch welding.

AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) with 5 years of experience.

ASNT Level II Certified Visual, Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Ultrasonic Inspector.

Must be able to read blueprints, plan quality work efforts, and manage project personnel, equipment, and tooling.

Must be able to address customer and vendor concerns orally and in writing.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders and enter confined spaces to complete tasks.

Demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office required.

Must have a valid Driver's License.

1 year minimum work experience as a B-class pipe welder at Austal or 2 years experience in similar role at comparative employer.

Ability to pass "A Class" skills validation test to demonstrate welding ability for restricted open root welds

Ability to successfully complete onboarding procedures in preparation to pass 6GR weld qualification test requirements for copper nickel, carbon steel and stainless steel to meet contract requirements for A Class welding on the vessel

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using the metric system.

Must be able to tour all vessels and work sites.

Must have the ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel.

Perform prolonged standing.

Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis.

Lift/push/pull 50lbs on an occasional basis.

Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis.

Ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures.

Ability to enter 18" x 36" openings and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time within OSHA guidelines.

Able to utilize adequate visual skills.

Ability to fully extend the arm while reaching overhead, reaching out, reaching to the side and reaching down.

Ability to perceive attributes of an object/material such as size, shape, temperature and texture by means of receptors in the hands and fingers.
