Must be able Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards by obtaining DBIDS and NAVSEA badges.
BA/BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience or 8 years directly related ship building/ship repair experience.
In-depth knowledge in all facets of the trade relating to ship repair.
Working knowledge of contracting and estimating procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of production processes, methods, quality, and technology.
Must be familiar with the requirements of MIL-STD-009-12, MIL-STD-1689, and S9074-AR-GIB-010/278.
Must be knowledgeable and experienced with welding pipe and structural components.
Must be able to certify as a level II visual inspector.
Capable in Microsoft products.
Repetitive or prolonged sitting, climbing, balancing, and lifting. Lifting body weight, sitting, reaching, handling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, leaning and seeing (to maintain visual contact with load), eye/hand/foot coordination.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Hearing warning signals, reading and comprehending safety instructions and planning sequence.
Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee's work area.
Must be physically able to walk to all yard locations, on board ships and vessels.
Must be able to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach or performing mechanical or skilled trade tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by electricians, technicians, service people, painters, mechanics, etc.
Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job.
Must be willing to travel, have reliable transportation and qualify to operate a company vehicle.
Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a CAC or DBIDS badge.
Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required.
Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility, the drydock, other facilities where work is being performed, and all ships.
Must be able to spend up to 70% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates.
Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear.
Must have good eye/hand coordination.
Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.
