- Perform required duties to set up a minimum of one machine in the Grinding Department, to perform a limited variety of finish grinding or honing on ferrous, non-ferrous parts, working to close and critical tolerances and finishes.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, standard procedures, instructions.
- Finish grind such parts as balls, races, bodies, flange bushings, bushings, bearings, and rod end assemblies.
- Perform bearing releasing operations.
- Select speeds, feeds, and set tooling on machines.
- Monitor machines and make adjustments as necessary to ensure parts meet production standards.
- Change grinding wheels and diamond tool points when required.
- Run first piece to ensure standards are met and obtain department approval for production run.
- Maintain inspection department initial calibration of gauging using masters and gauging blocks.
- Sharpen tooling.
- Operate one or more machines simultaneously.
- Use precision measuring instruments, master gauges, gauging blocks, dressing, and hand tools.
- Move materials as necessary in the performance of duties.
- Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervision.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow all safety and security practices.
- Perform other job related duties as required or as directed.
