10+ years of relevant industrial experience in machinery and equipment engineering/design with preferred emphasis in forest products industry
Ability to size structural members, plating, shafting, etc.
Supervision of Design/Drafting Team
Lead a heavy equipment engineering/design team supporting the forest products industry
Oversee layout and general arrangement drawings of proposed project scope
Conduct drawing package checking to insure quality control
Provide on-site assistance during installation and startup
Virtual team and relationship development skills
General knowledge of 3D design software - Inventor or Solidworks
Oversee development of fabrication packages for log handling and log processing systems for Sawmills, OSB Mills and Plywood Mills as well as for other related forest products
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Equivalent)
Knowledge and application of design and CAD drafting standards
Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD
Coordination with shop supervisor for continuous improvement
Knowledge of manufacturing/fabrication/machining practices
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to size and select mechanical power transmission components
Ability to develop engineering/design schedules
Provide technical guidance to engineering/design team
Ability to travel to client sites for overnight trips
Coordinate closely with sales team and company leadership to define project scope
Maintain and Improve upon department standards and procedures
Knowledge and application of material handling systems
Oversee development of detail design packages for equipment fabrication
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
