Ability to work at heights above 12' while working from ladders, scaffolding and/or man lifts.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering AND five (5) years' experience in either shipyard design and large ship construction or as a Cognizant Engineer over multiple systems or similar large scale engineering design project (i.e. offshore platforms), OR
Demonstrate the ability to safely and appropriately use required tools and equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of ship building production such as build strategies, critical path, and production milestones required.
Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis.
No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis.
Willing to submit to a drug screen
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.

Demonstrated knowledge of Shipbuilding specifications such as ABS, Mil, API, and other similar general construction specs required.
Ability to fully extend the arm while reaching overhead, reaching out, reaching to the side and reaching down.
Able to provide proof of US Person status (permanent resident or citizen)
Perform prolonged standing.
Possess sufficient handgrip and coordination to carry and operate tools and equipment.
Willing to submit to a background check
Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis.
Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards.
Working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (i.e. ABS, DNV, GL, NAVSEA, MIL, USCG, IMO, etc.) required.
Ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures.
Ability to enter 18" x 36" openings and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time.
Willingness and ability to spend time onboard the vessel going up and down staircases and vertical ladders required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Must have the ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
Demonstrated knowledge of ship engineering systems required.
Able to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, overhead).
Able to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands.
Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, possess an ability to monitor progress to schedule and adhere to strict deadlines required.
Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and ramps).
Experience in identifying and anticipating design/production work sequence conflicts required.
18 years or older at time of application
Must be able to tour all vessels and work sites.
Demonstrate good balance while working on uneven surfaces and maneuvering obstacles.
Computer literate and familiar with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products
Lift/push/pull 50lbs to 75lbs on an occasional basis.
Three (3) years' degreed Engineering experience at Austal USA.
Must be able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance.
In lieu of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, High School diploma/GED and eight (8) years of equivalent relevant experience.
