High school diploma or equivalent is required
3+ years' experience in the last 5 years as a manual machinist
Experience operating a manual lathe and Bridgeport Milling machine.
General computer skills
Mechanical and civil aptitude
Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb more than 75 feet, work in confined spaces, wear SCBAs and use hand tools and precision measuring devices.
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required
Candidates will be required to pass a competency test, which includes a written test and a machinist skills demonstration.
Written Test: Assesses candidate knowledge and skills with power tools, rigging, scaffolding, lubrication, mechanical seals, gaskets, metallurgy, tubing and fitting, pipe threading, torches, fasteners, presses, cutting tools, and hand tools.
Machinist Skills Demonstration: Consists of manual machining a pump shaft that has an external thread, keyway, and (2) mic dimensions candidate must machine.
